Kobus Moolman

Kobus Moolman teaches creative writing in the Department of English at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban. An award-winning poet and playwright, educator and editor, Kobus is regarded as one of South Africa’s leading lyrical poets.

He has published six collections of poetry: Time like Stone(which received the 2001 Ingrid Jonker Prize for a debut collection), Feet of the Sky5 PoetrySeparating the Seas,Anatomy and Light and After.

His play, Full Circle, won the 2004 PANSA award, and was published in 2007. He has also published a collection of radio plays, Blind Voices. In 2009 his poem Boy was nominated for the American Pushcart Prize. His cycle of poems, Anatomy, won the Dramatic and Literary Rights (DALRO) Prize for the best poem to appear in New Coin magazine in 2008.

In 2010 he edited and published an anthology of poetry, prose and art by South African writers living with disabilities entitled, Tilling the Hard Soil. Most recently he received the 2010 South African Literary Award for Poetry for his collection,Separating the Seas.

Kobus has conducted readings and writing workshops around the country, and is an inspiring and gifted teacher.
